Are you the type of person that chooses their hotel based on Google images or do you head for the maps page to find out where the hotel is located and how many decent coffee shops or restaurants are nearby? Are rooms with a view your priority or the added inclusions on offer? Well I found a hotel that ticks all these boxes and more.
Located on Finger Wharf in Sydney, The Ovolo Woolloomooloo has more added inclusions than O’s in its name! Here we go, Welcome snack bag, Continental breakfast, all the drinks in your mini bar (free!! and they are replaced each morning), Tote bag, super speed Wi-Fi, free drinks and snacks each day between 5-7pm plus all day gourmet coffee and snacks in the Lo Lounge. While I was there they were working on constructing the pool and gym area so they also included free passes to one of Sydney’s best pools. I look forward to staying at this hotel again once this fitness area is completed. The onsite coffee shop, Bakers Gonna Bake, sells great coffee and snacks throughout the day and took away that need to go searching for my morning and afternoon caffeine fix. Food is always an important part of my travels and there are many options close by either by walking such as Flour and Stone Bakery or a short cab ride away like Quay Restaurant. There are a few onsite restaurants such as China Doll, which I didn’t get to try this time but looked very popular with the locals which is always a good sign! I did get the opportunity to try the hotels room service by ordering the wood fired pizza when late night hunger kicked in and it was delicious!
A real highlight of my stay in Sydney was catching a water taxi from Darling Harbour to the wharf right outside the Ovolo hotel. This was not only my first time on the harbour but also the first time I’ve ever had the option of going by boat directly to my hotel. It offered a completely unique perspective on iconic sites such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. I’ve featured that experience above as my intro picture to this post. It’s something I’ll always remember.
I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world but nothing as cool as this. This hotel had me at “Hello” with its Industrial and Scandi vibe as soon as I entered. The friendly and attentive staff were very welcoming and made my stay a relaxing and comfortable one. This is the kind of hotel you want to just linger in and enjoy all the spaces on offer. As you can see from my photos below I was especially impressed with the abundance of lounges and seating on offer in the hotels Lo Lounge and I was completely obsessed with the use of blush pink everywhere! Each space has been given its own look and name like the Garden Lounge and the Fire pit lounge. I thought the kissing booths were super cute!! The room I stayed in was spacious and the bed super comfortable. The water view from my window was refreshing and large windows could be opened to let in all the sights and sounds around the wharf. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay! In fact I’m looking forward to trying other Ovolo Hotel locations.

They have another hotel in Sydney in the Darling Harbour area. They have one in Melbourne and a few in Hong Kong. Great question! Thanks for reading!
